Central Football is delighted to advise that as a result of the 128th Ordinary Congress of New Zealand Football held on Thursday 24 May 2018 current Federation Chair Johanna Wood has been elected to the Executive Committee of our codes governing body. Mrs Wood has been a Central Football Board member since 2006 and Chair of the organisation since 2010, a position she was re-elected to at the 8th Annual General Meeting of the Federation held on Sunday 20 May 2018.
Mrs Wood joins Messrs Gary Carnachan and Jon Ormond as new Ex Co members for 4-year terms, in turn joining current New Zealand Football President Deryck Shaw and Ex Co member Philip Barry who were both elected for further terms. Upon her election, Mrs Wood commented “I am both pleased and honoured to be elected to the New Zealand Football Executive Committee and very much look forward to contributing to the future of our game from a national level. My focus is particularly centred on growing the capability and the quality of delivery across our sport, recognising the diversity in the communities in which we work and supporting their varied needs. Our communities are such an important component of our game as they form the backbone of football and as such lay the foundation for all else”.
Central Football Deputy Chairman Jamie Hall commented that “whilst Johanna’s election to Ex Co means that we will eventually lose her as a Federation Board member we remain delighted that her qualities, skills and expertise has been recognised at national level. Johanna contributing at this level bodes well for our sport and on behalf of Central Football, I congratulate her on this notable appointment".
