What is Futsal?

Futsal is the only FIFA and NZ Football approved version of five-aside football and the world’s fastest-growing indoor sport. Futsal is a small-sided – 5v5 – game played with a smaller low bounce ball, on a court without rebound walls or nets. It is a game that combines fun, creativity, speed, technique, teamwork and quick thinking. NZF Futsal has been designed to complement New Zealand Football’s existing programmes and promote and improve participation in football in New Zealand.  
​​​​​​​All you need is the right attitude, soft soled shoes, long socks & shin pads to play one of the fastest growing indoor sports in NZ.​​​​​​​

TERM ONE 2026 FUTSAL - Registrations Open

VENUE 

Matches will be played on Fridays at Arena 3, starting on the 13th of February and running through to Friday, 10th of April. Please note that Friday the 13th of March will be played in Arena 2. 

GRADES & ELIGIBILTY FOR 2026 - All Players should play in the correct grade.  

JUNIORS – MIXED 

BELOW COMPETITIONS - teams can be made up of all males, all female or a mixture 

FORMAT: 3 A SIDE (NO GOALIES) - 2 X 15MIN GAMES PER NIGHT ON SMALL HALF COURT WITH SMALL GOALS. TEAMS TO SUPPLY REFEREES   

5th Grade (Born 2021) 

6th Grade (Born 2020) 

7th Grade (Born 2019) 

Entry Fee: $175.00 per team 

FORMAT: 5 A SIDE (INCLUDES GOALIES) - BASKETBALL COURT 

8th Grade (Born 2018) 

9th Grade (Born 2017)  

10th Grade (Born 2016) 

11th Grade (Born 2015) 

12th Grade (Born 2014) 

13th Grade (Born 2013) 

Entry Fee: $350.00 per team 

Dispensation: 

• As all grades are mixed, female players can play down one grade if they wish (applies to 5th – 13th grade only) 

• Any other dispensation requests need to be in writing to ben@centralfootball.co.nz 

Grading Games (Juniors ONLY): 

When entry numbers allow, junior grades will play three grading games to ensure teams are matched at similar levels, giving kids the best playing experience possible. 

• Scores will be recorded during these grading rounds. 

• After grading, no winners will be recorded for junior grades. 

YOUTH / SENIOR 

Note: There will be no grading for these competitions. Please enter your competition based off your estimated team ability

SENIOR WOMEN – Players need to be at least 14 years of age (Monday) 

SENIOR MENS – Players need to be at least 15 years of age
