What is Futsal?

Futsal is the only FIFA and NZ Football approved version of five-aside football and the world’s fastest-growing indoor sport. Futsal is a small-sided – 5v5 – game played with a smaller low bounce ball, on a court without rebound walls or nets. It is a game that combines fun, creativity, speed, technique, teamwork and quick thinking. NZF Futsal has been designed to complement New Zealand Football’s existing programmes and promote and improve participation in football in New Zealand.  All you need is the right attitude, soft soled shoes, long socks & shin pads to play one of the fastest growing indoor sports in NZ.​​​​​​​

TERM 1 | 2026 - FUTSAL LEAGUES - (FULL INFORMATION BELOW)

Entry Fees | Venue

3v3 $100 per team.

5v5  $150 per team.

5-week competition. All matches will be played at TSB Hub Hawera on Wednesday (starting 25th February and finishing 1st April) there will be a number of teams required for the league to go ahead. 

GRADES & ELIGIBILITY FOR 2026 - All players should play in the correct grade. There has been changes to grades, as we have now moved to birth years to determine your grade. Team entries can be made up of School teams, club teams or groups of friends, 

JUNIORS—MIXED

BELOW COMPETITIONS—teams can be made up of all male, all female, or a mixture.

FORMAT: 3 A SIDE (NO GOALIES) - 2 X 15MIN GAMES PER NIGHT ON SMALL HALF COURT WITH SMALL GOALS. TEAMS TO SUPPLY REFEREES  

5th/6th Grade (Born 2021/2020)      

6th/7th Grade (Born 2020/2019)

FORMAT: 5 A SIDE (INCLUDES GOALIES) - BASKETBALL COURT - REFEREES SUPPLIED FOR GAMES

8th/9th Grade (Born 2018/2017) 

10th/11th Grade (Born 2016/2015) 

Dispensation:

  • As all grades are mixed, female players can play down one age group if they wish

- no winners will be recorded for junior grades.

Entries close once maximum capacity is reached or 18th of February 2026.

These competitions are STRICTLY FIRST IN FIRST SERVE. We encourage teams to get your entries in as soon as possible.
