What is Futsal?

Futsal is the only FIFA and NZ Football approved version of five-aside football and the world’s fastest-growing indoor sport. Futsal is a small-sided – 5v5 – game played with a smaller low bounce ball, on a court without rebound walls or nets. It is a game that combines fun, creativity, speed, technique, teamwork and quick thinking. NZF Futsal has been designed to complement New Zealand Football’s existing programmes and promote and improve participation in football in New Zealand.  All you need is the right attitude, soft soled shoes, long socks & shin pads to play one of the fastest growing indoor sports in NZ.​​​​​​​

TERM TWO FUTSAL

TERM 2 | 2026 - FUTSAL LEAGUES ENTRIES OPEN

Entry Fee: 

$300.00 per 5v5 team

$120.00 per 3v3 team

6-week competition. All matches will be played at Pettigrew Green Arena . All games will be played on Friday nights starting on the 15th of May. No play 29th May (Kings Birthday). Final night, 26th June (6 playing nights). 

GRADES & ELIGIBILITY FOR 2026

All players should play in the correct grade. Grades are determined by birth year.

JUNIORS – MIXED

3-A-Side Format

(No goalies) — 2 x 15 min games per night on a small half court with small goals. Teams must supply referees.

  • 6th Grade (Born 2020)

  • 7th Grade (Born 2019) 

5-A-Side Format

(Includes goalies) — Basketball court.

  • 8th Grade (Born 2018) 

  • 9th Grade (Born 2017)

  • 10th Grade (Born 2016) 

  • 11th Grade (Born 2015) 

Dispensation

  • Female players may play down one grade if they wish (including female players born 2014)

  • Any other dispensation requests must be emailed to dana@centralfootball.co.nz.
