What is Futsal?

Futsal is the only FIFA and NZ Football approved version of five-aside football and the world’s fastest-growing indoor sport. Futsal is a small-sided  game played with a smaller low bounce ball, on a court without rebound walls or nets. It is a game that combines fun, creativity, speed, technique, teamwork and quick thinking. NZF Futsal has been designed to complement New Zealand Football’s existing programmes and promote and improve participation in football in New Zealand.

Tairāwhiti Futsal is back for its second season!

After launching the competition last year, we’re excited to bring futsal back to Gisborne for another 8 weeks of Wednesday night futsal at YMCA Stadium.

Whether you’re entering a school team, club team or getting a group of friends together, there’s a grade for everyone.

Competition Details

Venue: YMCA Stadium, Gisborne
Day: Wednesday nights
Dates: 28 October – 9 December
Time: 3:30pm – 7:30pm
Duration: 8 weeks

Entry Fees

• 5th–7th Grade: $160 per team
• 8th–13th Grade: $200 per team
• Youth U15: $200 per team
• Senior Social: $200 per team

5th & 6th Grade - 2020–2021

7th Grade - 2019

8th & 9th Grade - 2017–2018

10th & 11th Grade - 2015–2016

12th & 13th Grade - 2013–2014

Youth U15 - U15

Senior Social - 15+

Game Formats

5th–7th Grade

Teams can be all boys, all girls or mixed.

• 3v3 on half court
• No goalkeepers
• 2 x 15-minute games

8th–13th Grade

Teams can be all boys, all girls or mixed.

• 5v5 on full court
• Goalkeepers

Youth U15

• 5v5 on full court
• Goalkeepers
• Separate boys and girls grades
• Teams are not mixed

Senior Social

• 5v5 on full court
• Goalkeepers
• Mixed gender
• Teams can be all boys, all girls or mixed
• Players must be 15+

Player Eligibility

Girls can play down a grade without dispensation.

If a player requires a dispensation, please email dana@centralfootball.co.nz to request this.

Venue Capacity

The competition will be based at YMCA Stadium, Gisborne.

If entries exceed the number of teams we can accommodate at the stadium, we will look at adding an additional venue to allow more teams to take part.

This may potentially mean games are played on a different day. If this is required, we will communicate with any affected teams as soon as possible.
