Lotto Central Federation League – Round 4

After Round 4 action in the Lotto Central Federation League the table is now condensed with every team having at least one win so far this season and three points separating all five teams. Bayleys Palmerston North United got their first points of the year in a 2-0 home win over Shani’s Taradale AFC thanks to two second half goals from Thomas Bell and Michael Sheridan. In the other match Watson Integrity PN Marist FC got back to back wins to move them into second on the ladder, they hosted ALH Limited Gisborne Thistle and the home side secured a tight 2-1 win. Cam Wallace and Mason Charlton netted one minute apart in the second half for Marist after Jimmy Somerton gave Thistle the lead 8 minutes earlier on the 50th minute mark. Thirsty Whale Napier City Rovers are still leading the league on six points after they had the Bye in Round 4. 

 

Women’s Federation League – Round 3

Excel Refrigeration Moturoa AFC look to be the team to beat in the 2023 campaign after they picked up their third straight win and scoring 4 goals again for the third straight week. Fernanda Toscani bagged a hat trick for Moturoa in the 4-1 home win against Kitchens By Healey Palmerston North United which sees her leading the Golden Boot on 6 goals. Havelock North Wanderers Women’s Feds sit in second place after back to back wins this time a hard fought 1-0 away win to OneStaff PN Marist Women’s Reserves, Ashley Arquette the hero with the 67thminute winner for Wanderers. ATLAS NP Rangers AFC Women’s Feds had the Bye and head away to take on United next weekend with both sides yet to grab any points in the league this season.

 

YORB HORIZONS PREMIERSHIP

Advance Electrical Palmerston North United welcomed Wanganui City to the University. The home side made the best possible start as an early Quinn Grainger brace followed by a goal from Anthony Jones seen them lead 3-0 after just 18 minutes. City responded with goals from Max Davidson in the 21st minute and then Mason McGahey in the 39th and suddenly it was back to a single goal the difference. Jones bagged his 2nd of the match in the 43rd minute to again extend the lead and the sides went into the break having earned their waters. Second Half goals from Bayshi Oo and James Redpath extended the lead and the match ended in a well deserved but hard earned 6-2 win to United.

At Wembley Park GJ Homes Whanganui Athletic hosted Levin AFC. All the action coming in the first half. Jordan Gilmore opening the scoring for the home side before an Oliver James Double just before the break gave Levin the lead. Although the home side tried as hard as they could they were unable to trouble the scorers in the second half and Levin held on to grab a valuable 2-1 win on the road.

At Celaeno Park Youm Marist Reserves and PNBHS 1st XI literally went blow for blow as they played out an exciting Draw. Darren Juru put the students in front after 3 minutes before Jeremy Watson replied in the 9th minute. Xavier Coleman once again put boys high in front however an own goal just before half time meant the score was all locked up going into the second half. Boys high took the lead again in the 71st minute this time they were benefactors of an own goal. The students thought they had done enough to claim victory however a 92nd minute James Jones goal for Marist broke boys’ high hearts and the match ended 3-3.

Longchill Takaro Jokers welcomed the unbeaten Teamlewis Innovation Feilding 1sts to Ashhurst for what was a tense encounter. A Mark Manson goal in the 15th minute was ultimately enough for Takaro as they held on to the lead throughout and claimed a 1-0 victory that throws the title race wide open.

Advance Electrical Palmerston North United up against Longchill Takaro Jokers. 2 v 3 both teams are coming off solid wins and will be wanting to continue their winning ways in this match.


HORIZONS CHAMPIONSHIP

Chillmax Takaro Titans took on Harcourts Feilding Reserves at the Ashhurst Domain. The sides could not be separated. Thomas Addy gave Takaro the lead in the 35th minute before Marrick Manning responded just minutes later for Feilding. 1-1 the final score here.

At Celaeno Park it was Isles Construction Marist Inter up against PNBHS 2nd XI. Charles Parker putting Inter in front with a well taken free kick in the 38th minute. Mareko Silva equalising for the students as he got on the end of a through ball in the 51st minute to set up a thrilling end to the match. It was Parker who once again stepped up for inter and when he scored what was an unstoppable goal in the 81st minute that was enough for them to take a hard fought 2-1 win from the match.

Linton FC 1sts took on Levin AFC Reserves. The away side took the lead thanks to Taburimai Talia in the 8th minute. Seumas McGregor equalised for Linton in the 62nd minute before Liam Forward grabbed what turned out to be the winner for Levin in the 83rd minute as Levin held on to claim a 2-1 victory on the day.  

Game of the round (6):

Levin AFC Reserves host against Isles Construction Marist Inter. 1 v 3 both teams are coming off tense wins last week and will be wanting to continue their good form in this match.


MANAWATU DIVISION 1

The Chillmax Takaro Rebels were looking to continue their good run of form against the also in form Red Sox Wrinklies. It was Takaro who got off to the best start as they took a 2-0 lead into half time thanks to an own goal as well as a Thai Human strike. They extended their lead straight after half time when Human picked up his 2nd of the match. Andrew Roydhouse picked up a quick-fire brace to give the wrinklies hope of a comeback. However, when Joseph Araya-Lopez netted in the 82nd minute that would prove to be enough for Takaro as they held on to claim a well-deserved 4-2 Win.

At the University Massey Good Guys proved too strong for Takaro Jhapa. Goals from Liam Wells (2), Cole Freeman (2), Michael Hilson, and Aaron Coatsworth giving them a comfortable 6-0 victory.

At Celaeno Park Smartphone Repair Marist Celts got off to a great start against North End Old Boys. Tim Sheehan, and Rhys Walshe making it 2-0 after 20 minutes. A brace of goals from Matt Wallace on 22 and 35 minutes brought the score level before Cam Dearlove put North End in front just before the break. Celts were level again in the 55th minute when Rhys Galyer pounced on a loose ball and slotted home with ease. James Kelly then put North End back in front when he slotted home in the 72nd minute before Dearlove grabbed his second of the day and North End were able to hold off a determined Celts side to take a 5-3 win.

Also, at Celaeno Freedom Plus Marist Bulldogs hosted Levin AFC Colts. Sam Roebuck giving the Bulldogs the lead after 17 minutes. Nathan Eyles then equalised for Levin with a very well taken goal on 20 minutes. Justin Wallace then ended his long goal scoring drought as he put Marist Bulldogs in front in the 33rd minute. Eyles once again netting for Levin as the teams went to half time all locked up. Both sides created chances but neither could add to their tally in the second half and the match ended in a 2-2 Draw.

Red Sox Wrinklies take on North End Old Boys in a clubhouse derby. 1 v 3 on the table and both sides will be up for the fight in what is sure to be a thrilling match.


MANAWATU DIVISION 2

Levin AFC Sports hosted North End AFC Vets at Donnelly Park. The North End side coming out on top and claiming a 4-2 win on the road. Goal Scorers unknown.

At the High School in Dannevirke it was the Rangers up against McDonalds Feilding Development. The sides played out a goalless first half. James Sandbrook opened the scoring for Feilding in the 50th minute before Jonathan Ryklief equalised for the home side. William Russell then put Feilding back in front in the 70th minute only for Ryklief to equalise again for Dannevirke. The sides could not be separated from there on and the match ended in an entertaining 2-2 draw.

In the top of the Table clash it was Red Sox Saints up against the N&R Builders Marist Park Rangers. The saints got off to a good start with goals from David De Jonge and Reuben Porter. Zubair Ali responded for the Park Rangers to reduce the deficit heading into the break. The match was in the balance until the 80th minute when Elijah Houlahan netted to give saints a cushion which they were able to hold onto and take a vital 3-1 win.

At Hokowhitu Park CAC Marist Greenies went to battle with the Res Sox A’s. The greenies coming away 5-3 winners in an entertaining match. Goal Scorers Unknown.

At Massey the Mad Butcher Takaro Fury continued winning ways as they were comfortable 5-0 winners against the Massey Rigs thanks to goals from Ayrton Smith (2), Jack Bradley, Jordyn Robinson-Human, and Ross Hebden.

N&R Builders Marist Park Rangers and CAC Marist greenies go to battle in a club derby that promises to be a great match. Who will come away with the bragging rights from this one?


MANAWATU DIVISION 3

At Donnelly Park Levin Socials welcomed the Drillco North End Socials. The North End side team brought their scoring boots with them on the road as they run out 7-2 winners. North End Scorers unknown, Goals for Levin were scored by Billy Paul and Andrew Gallagher.

At Bush Park the clash between two of the top teams lived up to all expectations. The sides could not be split as the match ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw. Scorers for Pahiatua were Craig Batchelor and Caleb Henderson whilst Scorers for Feilding were Cameron Fairless and Gamied Fredericks.

 A 12-goal thriller was played out between Manawatu Plunderers and JRM Automotive Marist Royals at Ashhurst. The Royals coming away with the win 7-5. Goal Scorers Unknown.

At the Woodville Rec Grounds the Woodville AFC 1st team hosted Red Sox Hustlers. Hustlers took a convincing lead into the break thanks to goals from David Burrows (2), Jeremy Porteous, and Ryan Stockley. Robert Marshall added to the tally before Woodville responded with goals from Michael Mason and Cameron Martin as the match ended 5-2 to the visiting Hustlers.

In the Takaro Derby it was Bua United up against Chillmax Glory. Glory took a 2-0 lead into halftime thanks to a brace of goals from Joshua Barrington. Bua came out firing after the break and scored 4 unanswered goals through Abinesh Sharma (2) and Niten Sahei (2). A late William Chaffe goal for Glory reduced the deficit however the Bua side held on to claim a hard earned 4-3 win over their club counterparts.  

Game of the round (6):

Red Sox Hustlers battle it out with Takaro Bua United.  Both sides had great wins in round 5 and will be looking to carry on that form this week. Who will take out the battle of 4th v 5th?


MANAWATU MASTERS DIVISION

Resonant Marist Masters took on Wanganui Marist Wanderers at the Ashhurst Domain. The match produced 8 goals and lots of action. The home side coming away 6-2 winners on the day thanks to goals from Darryl Newsome (2), Rori Moore, Chet Greatorex, Richard Lawton, and Mohammed Shaad. Wanganui Scorers Unknown.

At Donnelly Park the Levin Vets were too strong for the Red Sox Old Boys as they ran out comfortable 6-0 winners on the day. Scorers Unknown.

At Hokowhitu Park it was the Red Sox Legends up against the Marist Banshees. This match was always going to be a good one and it did not fail to deliver. Red Sox Legends coming out 4-2 winners against a strong Banshees side. Quayne Robertson, Mark McCarten, Sam Miratana, and Chris Osborne netting for Red Sox. Marist Scorers Unknown.

At Timona Park Jennian Homes Feilding United welcomed MKM Marist Shamrock Rovers.  First half braces from Correy Kotuhi and Mike Lewis giving the home side a comfortable 4-0 half time lead. The second half was a much closer contest. Sebastian Londono grabbed a goal for the Shamrock Rovers whilst Malcom Thomas added to Feilding’s tally as the match ended 5-1 to the home side.  

 

 

Game of the round (6):

Marist Banshees welcome Jennian Homes Feilding master’s to the Ashhurst domain. Whenever these sides meet, we are treated to an action-packed match. This game is sure to be no different as 2nd takes on 3rd both teams will be wanting to keep pressure on the Red Sox Legends at the top.


TEAM ROBINSON MANAWATU WOMEN’S

Levin AFC welcomed Takaro Harlequins to Donnelly Park. Lauren Guerin opened the scoring for Levin as they took the lead into halftime. 2nd half goals from Lisa Fletcher, Vanessa Smith, Rebekah Sinclair, and Emma Overall extending their lead before a late consolation goal from Leonie Mills got Takaro off the mark. Final Score 5-1 to Levin.

At Hokowhitu Park Tranzit Marist Mysteries took on Massey Reserves. Leah Dixon, Andie Clothier, and Elise Rophia netting for the Massey as they eventually came away 3-0 winners against a determined Mysteries side.

Also, at Hokowhitu Park Chillmax Takaro X-Force came away 3-0 victors against Isles Construction Marist Development. Waimereni Hudson, Mikaela Bradley, and an Own Goal were the scorers for Takaro.    

 

 

Gree Marist Evergreenz hosted Dannevirke Valkyrie. Elizabeth Laws putting the Valkyrie in front after 10 minutes. It looked like the single goal was going to be enough to win the match for the visitors. However, the Evergreenz never gave up and were rewarded for their efforts in the 75th minute when the managed to equalise through a Valkyrie Own Goal and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

 

Rosco's Bulk Yard Feilding Utd AFC Women welcomed Massey Golden Girls to Timona Park. Ella Payton opened the scoring in the 22nd minute and Feilding took a 1-0 lead to the break. Pamela Clough, and Rebecca Holland added to the tally in the second spell as the home side were too good for the Golden Girls. Final Score 3-0 to Feilding.

At Hokowhitu Park Chapple Architecture Marist Mayhem made a statement with a strong   6-0 win against the previously unbeaten LJ Contracting Takaro Avengers side. Goal Scorers Unknown
