YORB Horizons Premiership

PNBHS just did enough to hold on against a spirted JAPAC Hokowhitu side on the weekend. In a seven goal thriller the kids all most blew it. A unfortunate own-goal in the 65th minute was  the lucky break the kids needed. Jaiden Meyer with a brace for the kids and Ryan Stockley scoring on call up to Hokowhitu 1sts. teamlewis RE/MAX Feilding United hosted 3rd placed Athletic and were in the match right to the very end. A goal in each half for the visitors enough to rip the points away in a very competitive match. Quinn Mailman scoring midway through the second half, two-nil the final score. Massey University started well with a 9th minute Cole Freeman goal  but just on the stroke of half-time Youngjae Lee squared things up. North End took an early lead in the second half as the goals flowed thick and fast and it was the 74th minute goal from Jamie Wilsher that decided the four-three win. Breakers Reserves get back-to-back wins with a four-nil win over OneStaff Marist Reserves. Callum Waller opened the scoring in the 6th minute and Yesaya Salawalak ended it in the 90th. The Marist side massively changed from the week prior did well to restrict the score. Chilmax Takaro had no answer for Versatile Wanganui City as the visitors ran out comfortable winners. Ants Bell with his customary brace and good to see young Charlie Cardie on the score sheet.

Round 15 key match: GJ Gardner Homes Athletic v PlaceMakers PNBHS – 2nd v 3rd and all to play for. Will Athletic do City a favour? Have the kids recovered enough from last week’s tournament to kick on now with the league?

360 Logistics Championship.
Jokers rounded out there league play with a display to be proud of with Lee Moses getting five!  PNBHS 2ndXI were too quick and technically proficient for Massey University Rigs, the Boys High side finish in a much improved position from 2019. McCallum and Mason did the damage for RSM A’s over North End Veterans but the pick of the goals was Ian Robinson turning back the clock with a delightful chip from out on the left. (Video above). Scott Gillespie with a brace for the Veterans. In the Battle of the reserve sides Takaro put up a spirited fight against Manawatu Concrete Polishing Feilding United. Feilding who with this result took out 2ndplace in the league had a solid season. Ramesh Chhetri with a brace for the Feilding side.

Round 15 key match: Charity Cup action can North End Veterans turnaround last weekends result against Red Sox A’s?

Manawatu Division 2

Linton 1st will make the step up the 360 Logistics Championship next season. With a comprehensive win to finish league play all that remains is how David Spencer will be able to afford his club fines session, five goals across two games this weekend. Levin 3rds hosted Marist Greenies and defended their patch well and knocked in four answered goals. Carl Trask back from injury and finding the net in the final league game. Levin Sports kept up a good day for the Levin sides with a hard fought and deserved win over DnB Marist. Three-two the final result. Michael Collis with Sports 2nd goal on the day. Wrinklies cap off another fine season with a tidy three-nil win over Masters. Neil Perry with the final league goal of the season in the 90th minute.

Manawatu Division 3

Saints sign off in style with a comfortable win, Fury who have had a tough season battled hard right to the very end and should be applauded for that. Luke Fullard with a brace for Saints. Linton Reserves beat North End Socials. The game was much closer than four-one would suggest and Linton will need to create some depth for next year if the 1st team want to push on in the Championship. Athletic signed off 2nd place with a two-nil win away against the Vikings. Celts broke Inter hearts as they clung on to earn a two-all draw. Inter have been the pick of the bunch all season and should be proud of their promotion for the 2021 season. Inter conceding less than a goal a game on average and amassing a massive 57 goals for the season, well done!

Manawatu Division 4

Levin Development made it  three out of four for Levin sides at home on Saturday. A five-one win over Manawatu Plunderers a good note to end their league season on. Hustlers reversed the round 1 score on Feilding Development and won two-nil. League winner Jesters had the BYE and Dannevirke Rangers had a tidy win at home three-nil against Takaro Glory

Masters

In the Red Sox derby Old Boys beat out Legends in a three-two game that could have gone either way. Cheers to Darryl and Bruce from running your teams this season.  Shamrock Rovers beat Levin Vets three-nil, Rovers had a much better second half of the season. Cheers Jason and Andrew for running your teams! League winners Jennian Homes Feilding United were made to work hard for their final home league victory with Banshees pushing them. Four-two the final result Mal Thomas admitting in an interview that that the ball just hit him for his goal. But at least he was there! Cheers to Keith and Steve for the season and running your teams.

Manawatu Women’s Premiership

Dombrowski was the difference as Libby continues to fire the goals in for Massey Reserves. Jess Robinsonsays “ the Massey side are a lovely bunch on and off the field and worked hard for today’s win”. Massey one-nil over Evergreenz. North End and Levin played out a nine goal epic game, both teams intent on scoring. Levin struggled for numbers earlier in the morning so did well to put up such a fight. Maria Carlyle with a hat-trick for North End. Mayhem did what Mayhem do and were solid on the day. Bridie McFadzean getting Feilding’s goal.

Manawatu Women’s Championship

Baby Blues rounded out a solid season with a six-three win over Avengers. Well deserved league title for North End. Misfits were too strong for a much improved Hawks side and by winning hang on to second place. Mysteries pushed them all the way and on the weekend Clovers just couldn’t keep pace. Valkyrie hosted Golden girls and at home were too good taking the match three-one.

Lotto Central Federation League

Peggy Gordons NP Rangers striker Mark McGrath has scored his third triple in three weeks to record a hat-trick of hat-tricks and he now leads the Golden Boot race. His side travel away to take on North End and headed home with the 1-4 victory which now has Rangers moving to the top of the table as GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic had the Bye. Watsons PN Marist had a huge 0-8 away win against Levin AFC with Elijah Smith, Melvin Rumere and Adam Cowan all scoring doubles. The last Saturday match was a thriller which ended 3-3 between Breakers Red Sox and Building King Havelock North Wanderers. When Stefan Kitching-Nicholson scored in the 85 minute for Havelock it looked like they were taking all three points back to the Hawke’s Bay but Red Sox were given a penalty in the 90th+3 minute which was slotted home by Lee Rufer to complete his brace. In the Sunday match Alexander Electric Napier Marist hosted Isles Construction Massey University with the home side striking three times in the first half to make it hard for Massey to get anything out of the match and Napier eventually ran out winners 5-2, Liam Percy-Fysh netting twice.
