Girls and Women’s Week launches this week and is set to be an action packed week with events organised throughout the Federation.
This is a wonderful opportunity for us all to celebrate and reflect on the success and promise of the Women’s game. From playing, to coaching, to refereeing, Women’s Football has grown dramatically in numbers and continues to thrive.
By raising the exposure we hope to introduce new potential female players, coaches, and referees to the sport. For females already involved, they will have the opportunity to further develop their craft and continue on their path towards higher level football.
Across our five regions there will be a variety of events taking place. They will encourage personal and player development, promote community building, and celebrate participation and bonding through physical activities.
In preparation for these events Central Football Women’s Development Manager Leon Birnie said “This is an exciting part of the year for female players, coaches, and referees. We are looking forward to providing a great experience and promoting out local clubs and helping females get into the beautiful game”. We are also excited to have New Zealand Women’s Development Manager Holly Nixon as well as Football Ferns star Rosie White in attendance during this week.
