Napier City Rovers put in a composed performance to beat Whanganui Athletic 5–0 at Bluewater Stadium.
Rovers opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after a strong start and doubled their lead in the 36th minute to take control into halftime. They came out quickly in the second half, scoring again in the 46th minute, before continuing to create chances and adding a fourth in the 60th minute. A late goal in the 88th minute capped off a dominant display from the home side.
Whanganui Athletic worked hard throughout but were unable to break through a well-organised Rovers side.
