Rangers regrouped and hit back before halftime, with Gracey Edgcombe scoring her second of the match in the 38th minute to bring her side level.
Just before the break, Zoe MacKenzie struck in the 45th minute to complete the comeback and give Rangers a 3–2 lead at halftime.
Despite pressure from Moturoa in the second half, New Plymouth Rangers held firm defensively to secure the derby win.

Mens Federation Cup
Palmerston North Marist Football Club were beaten 4–2 away to Hawera FC in an entertaining contest, despite a spirited response from the visitors. After a tight opening spell, Hawera took control in the second half with Nathan Kelbrick opening the scoring in the 50th minute before Ben Savage doubled the advantage from the penalty spot six minutes later. Marist responded well through Kaw Hser on the hour mark to pull a goal back and give the visitors renewed belief.
However, Hawera’s danger man struck again as Kelbrick added his second in the 78th minute and completed his hat-trick five minutes later to restore breathing space for the hosts. To their credit, Marist kept fighting and were rewarded deep into stoppage time when Sam Roebuck converted from the penalty spot in the 94th minute to round out the scoring.While the result was disappointing, there were positives in the character shown by Marist, who continued to push and compete throughout. Hawera ultimately proved clinical in key moments, led by Kelbrick’s three-goal performance, but Marist will take lessons from the contest as they look to respond next week.
