Matt Wallace appointed new Referee Manager

Central Football are delighted to announce that Matt Wallace has been appointed to the Referee Manager role for the federation.

Matt will replace Russell Jones who leaves Central Football mid-December to head back to the UK and comes into this role from his current position as Central Football’s Competition Manager -West. Matt has extensive experience across both football and futsal officiating, is an active match official and aligns strongly to our key focus area of continuing to grow both the number and quality of our match official group. We are in a good space with our match official group at the moment, largely thanks to the great work that Russell has done over the past two years or so, and we know that Matt has the drive and knowledge to continue this trajectory.

Central Football CEO Darren Mason said, “It is always rewarding to see vacancies filled from within our organisation and this role is no different. Matt has shown a real desire to work in the match official space over the past year or two and we have no doubt that he will continue the great work Russell has done. Matt has managed our match official appointments in recent seasons and knows many of our officials already and has the drive and passion to push us forward further in this area”

Matt Wallace added, “I am really happy to be appointed to this role. I am passionate about the match official space and looking forward to building new relationships with the Central Football match officials and growing on the strong foundation that has been built by Russell and can’t wait to get into it in the New Year”

Matt will start in his new position from 13 January 2025.
