The match of the round saw Havelock travel to Arena Turf Manawatu for a match up with reigning champs and current league leaders Palmerston North Marist. Havelock are one of the sides expected to challenge Marist for the title this season but Marist showed at this point in time they are still top dogs at this point in time with a 4-1 victory at home. Marist have now knocked over Taradale and Havelock in consecutive weeks, who are currently closest to them on the table. It’s only a three point gap back to Taradale however as the table remains tight.

Rangers have 6 points on the board and Athletic 9. Rangers won’t want the gap to open up any further and will want a result at home. 

 

Womens Eastern League 

This weekend YMCA Gisborne Thistle Ladies took on Heavy Equipment Ladies United. Thistle opened the scoring with a goal from Eden Schollum in the 12th minute of the match. Giving her side the lead at the break 1-0. Thistle fought hard and found the net again with a goal from Mya Carrington in the 52nd minute, this was closely followed by Lucy McDiarmid scoring for the home side as well. Thistle took the win 3-0.

In this week's match of the round Neighborhood Pizzeria Wainui Sandbar took on Heavy Equipment Gisborne United 1st's. In what was a tight game it was Wainui who found the back of the net first with a goal in the 11th minute of the match from Gonzalo Dotta. United equalized in the 30th minute thanks to Corey Adams. Josh Adams found the goal just before the break in the 44th minute to give united the lead at the break and ultimately decide the match as United took the win 2-1 on the day.
