GREEN FAMILY CUP
On Sunday the Green Family Cup was contested between Massey Reserves and Rosco's Bulk Yard Feilding United at the SRI at Massey University a huge thanks going out to the Massey University grounds team for preparing a wonderful pitch for the ladies to play on. Congratulations to Massey on taking the trophy with a hard earned 6-0 Victory. This was a great way to start the Women's Season and celebrate local football. Thanks to John Green for officiating the match and presenting the trophy to the Winning Captain Sarah Andrews. Goal Scorers for Massey: Hannah Carey (3), Megan George (2) and Kirstie Baker.

YORB HORIZONS PREMIERSHIP
Friday Night Football at the Arena to kick off the Manawatu Season as Long Chill Takaro Jokers hosted Youm Marist Reserves. Takaro jumping out to an early lead thanks to a 13th Minute Mitchell Higgison goal. Marist were very resilient however and had an answer for everything Takaro were throwing at them. After the break Marist were rewarded for their patience and Lachlan Robinson netted in the 53rd minute to set up an exciting finish to the season opener. Neither side were able to get the vital 2nd goal and the match ended in 1-1 draw.
Levin AFC 1sts welcomed teamlewis innovation Feilding Utd AFC Men's 1st's to Donnelly Park. Tommi Hart giving the visitors the lead in the 22nd minute. James Hart Doubled their lead at the 50 Minute mark before Michael Whitmore rounded off the scoring in the 62nd minute as Feilding came away with an assertive 3-0 victory to kick off their campaign.
At Webley Park Wanganui City 1sts hosted PNBHS 1st XI. The teams were all locked up heading into the sheds for half time. Whatever Head Coach Scott Coleman said to his lads at the break seemed to work as Darren Juru opened the scoring in the 46th minute before Aiden Foster and Joel Jainarain added to the tally as Boys High picked up a valuable 3-0 win on the road to also make a flying start to their season.
This year sees a new club in the premiership in the form of Palmerston North United. Their Reserve side played host to a very strong looking GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic Reserve side at Massey University. Both sides managed to keep the other at bay in the first half and they went into the sheds with the dead lock yet to be broken. The Second half was a different story however as the sides put on a 6-goal spectacle. Zebulun Small put the visitors in front in the 55th minute before Christopher Hamlin drew the hosts level just minutes later. Jordan Gilmore restored the lead for the visitors before Anthony Jones this time netted for united meaning the match was poised at 2-2 with 20 mins to play. Up step Ryan Donaldson with a late brace of goals which was enough to give Athletic a 4-2 win in what was an exciting match for the neutral.

Timona Park is the Venue for this week’s match of the round as teamlewis innovation Feilding Utd AFC Men's 1st welcome GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic Reserves in what promises to be a cracking match. Both sides are coming off round 1 victory’s and will be hoping they can make it 2 from 2.
360 LOGISTICS CHAMPIONSHIP
Levin AFC Reserves got their season off to the best possible start when they welcomed Harcourts Feilding United Men’s Reserves to Donnelly Park. Feilding opened the scoring in the 5th minute thanks to Corban Mcfarlane. Taburimai Talia levelled the scores at the 34th minute mark before further goals from Curtis MacLachlan and Cody Stewart gave Levin a 3-1 lead to take into the half time break. Cody Stewart extended the lead in the 60th minute before Ben Vickers rounded off the scoring in the 75th minute as Levin came away with a comfortable 5-1 win to start their season in style.
At Celaeno Park Chillmax Takaro Titans took on Isles Construction Marist Inter. Felix Firpo putting Inter in front after just 6 minutes before Charlie Parker doubled the lead on 35 minutes. Second half goals from Paul Duffin, Charlie Parker, and Fabian Villegas gave Inter a 5-0 win as they started their season with a bang.
At Massey University the Palmerston North United Development team welcomed Linton FC 1sts. Development came out of the blocks firing with first half goals to Manoj Chauhan and Ashraf Muhammad-Ali (2) as they went into the break with a 3-0 lead. Linton came out after halftime a much tougher proposition and were able to prevent United from scoring whilst they managed to get a goal of there own through Ethan Tran. Final Score 3-1 United.
Game of the round (2):
Isles Construction Marist Inter take on Palmerston North United Development. Both sides made positive starts last week and will be looking to make it back-to-back wins.
MANAWATU DIVISION 1
Red Sox Wrinklies kicked their season off in fine style with a 9-0 Victory against a valiant Levin Colts Side thanks to goals from Adam Rose (2), Nick Cooley (2), Andrew Roydhouse, Sammy Lee, Kurtis Edwards, Brad Spicer, and Troy Falcon.
Massey University Good Guys welcomed Freedom Plus Marist Bulldogs to campus for what proved to be an intense battle. Pat Mansfield gave the Bulldogs the lead just before the halftime break. The second half seen both sides have a number of chances and although it looked like the Bulldogs were going to hold on for the win Liam Wells had other ideas and netted for the Good Guys in the 86th minute as the match ended 1-1 and the sides could not be split.
At Celaeno Park Takaro Jhapa United got off to a flying start against the North End Old Boys when Ramazan Ali netted in just the 8th Minute. James Kelly drew the old boy’s level in the 30th minute and the sides went into the break all locked up at 1-1. James Kelly then sored a quick second half brace to complete his hattrick and give the old boys a two goal buffer before Cam Dearlove rounded out the scoring in the 75th minute and the Old Boys came away with a hard earned 4-1 Victory on the day.
At the Ashhurst Domain the Chillmax Takaro Rebels took on the newly promoted Smartphone Repairs Marist Celts. Rhys Galyer gave the celts the best possible start when he scored in the 12th minute to give his side the lead. Unfortunately for the Celts that was as good as it got as the Rebels scored 4 unanswered 2nd half goals to take the match 4-1. Scorers for Takaro: Renae Brown, Thai Human (2), own goal.
Game of the round (2):
North End Old Boys and Chillmax Takaro Rebels go to battle on Thursday night at Arena Manawatu. Both sides had good wins in Round 1 and this match promises to be a great wat to kick off round 2.
MANAWATU DIVISION 2
At Donnelly Park Levin Sports welcomed N&R Builders PN Marist Park Rangers. It was the visitors who came away comprehensive 5-1 winners on the day thanks to goals from Zac Beechey-Gradwell (2), Scott Outtrim, Liam Outtrim, and Zubair Ali. Goal Scorer for Levin was Zane Hartwell.
McDonald’s Feilding Utd Development welcomed Red Sox A’s to Timona Park and in what was an exciting match it was the A’s who took this one 4-2. Scores for Red Sox: Ian Robinson, Daniel Harris (2), and Matthew McCallum. Goals for Feilding: James Sandbrook, Own Goal.
North End Vets took on The Mad Butcher Takaro Fury at Celaeno Park. The Fury were able to make an impressive start to their campaign as they ran out 3-0 winners thanks to gaols from Jack Bradley, Teslim Raheem, and Ayrton Smith.
Dannevirke Rangers welcomed Massey University Rigs to Dannevirke as the sides played out a high scoring match. Dannevirke running out winners 6-2. Unfortunately scorers for this match are unknown.
Red Sox Saints went to battle with Compressed Air Controls Marist Greenies. It was the Saints who came out on top 4-1 in this match thanks to goals from David De Jonge, Griffin Auer, Elijah Houlahan and Sendiron Enumbi. Goal Scorer for the Greenies was Blake Feekery.
Game of the round (2):
The Mad Butcher Takaro Fury welcome DSC Rangers to the Ashhurst Domain. Both Sides had great wins in Round 1 and will be looking to continue their winning ways on Saturday.
MANAWATU DIVISION 3
Levin AFC Socials welcomed JRM Automotive Marist Royals to Levin in a game that produced 10 goals. Marist coming away with a 7-3 win on the road to start their season off in style. Marists goals coming from Cristian Tot, Joshua Morgan, Isaiah Salawalak, Richard Nielsen, Remy Cuttle, and Adam Jurgeleit (2). Levin’s Goals from Joseph Yan, and Caleb Gallagher (2).
Groombridge Electrical Feilding C Team hosted Red Sox Hustlers at Timona Park.
This was a low scoring arm wrestle which was decided by a 58th minute Matthew Fellingham goal which was enough to give the home side a 1-0 win to start their season off.
At Celaeno Park Chillmax Takaro Glory were 3-0 Winners over North End Socials thanks to goals from Callum Coster (2), and Casey Robinson-Human.
Post Office Hotel Pahiatua FC welcomed Takaro Bua United to Bush Park. Pahiatua winning this match 3-0 thanks to goals from Jordan Chard, Caleb Henderson, and Liam Williamson.
At the Ashhurst Domain Manawatu Plunderers hosted Woodville AFC in what was a 5-goal thriller. The Plunderers coming away 3-2 winners on the day. Unfortunately, scorers for this match were not available at the time of publishing.

Woodville AFC 1sts welcome Levin AFC Social to Woodville Recreational Grounds for the first Senior Match in Woodville for a very long time. This promises to be an exciting occasion.
MANAWATU MASTERS DIVISION
Marist Banshees welcomed Wanganui Marist Wanderers to the Ashhurst Domain for what was to be an entertaining fixture. Wanganui coming out on top 4-2 as they started their season in the best possible way on the road. Goal Scorers for Wanganui Marist: Andrew Gilberd (2), Mike Crook, and Murray Loveridge. Scorers for the Banshees: Cameron McCarthy, and Rogerio Oliveira.
In a 9 Goal cliff hanger the MKM Marist Shamrock Rovers edged out the Red Sox Old Boys 5-4 thanks to goals from Russell Flynn, Paul Wallace, David Brown, and Chris Stewart (2). Red Sox goals: Evan Leonard -Jones, John Greenwood, and Unknown Player (2).
At Donnelly Park the Levin Vets welcomed the Red Sox Legends. It was the Legends who got their season off to the best start here as they left Levin with a 3-0 win under their belts. Goal Scorers for the Legends were Samuel Hill (2), and Quayne Robertson.
At the Ashhurst Domain Resonant Marist Masters welcomed defending champions Jennian Homes Feilding United Masters. Marist took the lead through Richard Lawton however that was not to last for long as Blair Funnell equalised for Feilding just minutes later and the sides went into half time all locked up at 1-1. Marist then took the lead thanks to a wonder strike from “Bobby” Robert Shortall before Chet Greatorex got on the end of a Richard Morgan Corner to make it 3-1. A late Allan Gudsell goal for Feilding made the last few minutes interesting but the Marist masters were able to hold on for a vital 3-2 win which sends a statement to the rest of the league saying they mean business in 2023.

We head to Wembley Park in Wanganui Where the Marist Wanderers take on the Red Sox Legends in what promises to be an exciting match in the battle of two round 1 winners.
