Central Football are really pleased to announce the appointment of Alisa Schlierike to the newly formed Women’s Legacy and Inclusion Manager role within the Federation.
This new role has been created to help capitalise on the unique opportunity we have as a country, and as a game, to provide positive change and experiences for girls and women in football across our Federation. The role will be a key driver in how we realise both our own strategies around the girls and women’s game and that of New Zealand Football’s Legacy Starts Now plan to increase the reach, participation and experience of females involved in football. Our plan includes initiatives around women’s leadership in the game, coach education, match official recruitment and development and some potential enhancements to the traditional formats of the game, whilst also providing alternative format opportunities to all.
Alisa Schlierike is currently employed by the Federation in a part-time Development Administrator position, is completing a Bachelor of Sports and Exercise Science and has in-depth club knowledge and experience. Alisa is really excited about this opportunity and had this to say, “This coming year is a huge opportunity for us to create a positive and lasting impact on the women’s game and I can’t wait to get started in this new role. We have some great initiatives to roll out to support clubs and participants and the co-hosting of the Women’s World Cup in New Zealand is a one in a lifetime event that will be huge for the game”.
Central Football CEO Darren Mason said, “We were fortunate to have several really good quality applicants for this role when we advertised it, and Alisa was a standout candidate. We couldn’t be more pleased to have made this appointment. Alisa understands the needs of the role, has great experience as a coach, administrator, player and parent and we believe she is a great fit to deliver on our goals in 2023 and beyond”.
Alisa will take up the new role from 20 February 2023 with one of her first tasks being to get around the Federation and engage with clubs and other stakeholders to share our plans for 2023.
