The Men’s Futsal SuperLeague kicks off this weekend with the Southern Series being held at the ASB Sports Centre in Wellington.  Head Coach Adam Cowan has named a 19 man squad for the 2020 edition of the MFS. Central will be looking to build on a solid season in 2019 and with 12 new signings are aiming to have their most successful season yet.

“My job as coach has been made easy with the group we’ve put together. I’m looking to have the most successful season the Central team has had” Cowan said.

“We have managed to add experience and youth into the squad, with some amazing new talent and faces. We have come together well as a squad and the feeling within the group has a good buzz” added Cowan.

“With the guys we have in our squad we have been able to keep the flair we have always had but add some more structure defensively. Josh Cremen and Jono Steele are back again to add the experience we need to lead the team”.

Amongst the 12 new signings Central has some exciting youth featuring this season.

“We have some new youth players to keep an eye on, such as Ethan Clarke, Harry Lack and Melvin Rumere, who bring something new to our team”.

“Liam Outtrim is another young keeper making a name for himself, coming off an exceptional debut season and I hope he can start to get noticed for his talent”.

Another exciting addition to the 2020 squad is the announcement of Assistant Coach Nick Chong. Nick who currently works as the Central Player Welfare Officer for New Zealand Football has recently coached the Central Women’s Futsal SuperLeague team and brings a wealth of experience to the coaching team.

After his appointment Chong said he was looking forward to this new challenge. “I am both excited and honoured to have been given the opportunity as assistant coach in the MFS for the 2020 season.  It has been great working with Adam and the squad. I can’t wait to get the season underway”.

Central’s first game is Saturday 31st October versus Southern United at 1.00pm.

We wish Adam, Nick, Shelley and the entire squad the best of luck for the season.
