YORB Horizons Premiership
JPAC Homes Hokowhitu got off to a flyer against PNBHS with Khalid Eitayeb scoring after just three minutes and followed soon after by Dean Burgess. Palmy boys battled hard and got one back before oranges. Jaiden Meyer got one at 59” and the Alex “killer” Kilkelly snatched a point late on in the 86”. Both teams will see this as points dropped rather than points gained. teamlewis RE/MAX Feilding have had a tough start to the season with a draw that pitted them against reserves sides that had the luxury of 1sts teams having a BYE. Luke Groombridge and Michael Whitmore scored within the first 12 minutes to set Feilding away and Whitmore scored a second to net a brace just on the stroke of half-time. Quinn Mailman made things interesting in the second spell when we slotted Athletics 3rd to make it 4-3 with 8 left to play. Feilding digging in and grinding out a deserved three points. North End Reserves and Massey Reserves played out a competitive 1-1 draw on Celaeno, Matt Wallace stepping into the custodian role for the Baby Blues and taking the man of the match accolades. But probably more unexpected was Matt Borren scoring the equalizing goal in the 71st for the Baby Blues. Versatile Homes Wanganui City just keep on building and with a 6-1 result they now go alone at the top of the table. Ants Bell with a hat-trick off the bench!!!
Round 5 key match: PNBHS v Athletic Reserves. Who bounces back best after last weekend’s result?
360 Logistics Championship.
RSM A’s pushed the Jokers all the way but couldn’t quite take points off them.
A sumptuous AJ Toki flick over the keeper secured all three points. Madison said of his side “ we couldn’t score even if we had a voucher at the moment” and praised defender Kane Russell for a 1v1 tackle late in the game on Gwlyem Hamilton to secure the points. In a tough and tightly contested game in Feilding Sulaman Kigozi secured all the points for the home side with a 75th minute goal. North End Veterans showed little mercy to a understrength Massey side. Matt Wallace now popping up here but this time on the score sheet. Israel Hawe-Muldrock with a brace. Levin Reserved made it a tough day for Takaro Reserves and Harpeet Singhscored a hat-trick in the 5-0 victory.
Round 4 key match: PNBHS v Levin Reserves. Levin need to keep the pressure on Jokers and PNBHS have the quality to upset them and jump up the table. A draw does nobody but the Jokers a favour.
Manawatu Division 2
Wrinklies and Greenies played out an entertaining 2-2 all draw which in reality only helped Linton. Linton who were to strong away at Levin now go top of the table. A Carl Roberts 86th minute goal pinching a point for the Greenies. DnB got their first win of the season (and their card in on time) in the Marist derby meanwhile Massey remain at the foot of the table.
Manawatu Division 3
Celts were too strong against Fury and won the game comfortably. Josh Reddiex with a brace. North End Socials held off a spirited Vikings side to take their match 2-1. Inter struck a understrength Massey Athletic side and were 2-0 at Oranges. Students got one back but Inter good enough to close the game out and stay undefeated. William Ogilvie again hitting the back of the net for Stratfords Saints with a 4-2 win.
Manawatu Division 4
Craig Porter and Andrew Bell both scored braces as Jesters were too strong for Rangers over in Dannevirke. Plunderers had an off day and the Hustlers capitalized with Ryan Stockley bagging a hat-trick in a comfortable win. Takaro and Feilding played out a keenly contested 1-1 draw in the final match of the round.
Masters
RSM Old Boys who are injury ravaged held out RSM Legends in the derby match Andy Rennie with the winner. A Duane Butts goal keeps Jennian Feilding United at the top of the masters league. Shamrock Rovers leap up the table after their second win,
Manawatu Women’s Premiership
Paige Charlton runs riot and scored 4 for Mayhem. Plus with Mayhem having the luxury of playing 1st team fringe players their +21 goal difference after 4 games suggests they’ll be hard to beat. Evergreenz held of a spirited Massey reserve side and should than goalkeeper Corina Chamberlain for saving a penalty! North End bounced back after last week and in a keenly contested game were too str
Manawatu Women’s Championship
Friday night Football made in the Women’s Championship! Awesome work PN Marist who invited Massey 3rds to play on the Arena Turf. The game drew a good crowd and was another good showcase of both sport and the facility. Hawks put in another spirited performance but braces from Sarah Preddy and “Dutchie” took the game away from them. Clovers continue to improve and had a close game against DSC. North Ends Baby Blues were good on the day and deserved heir 3-1 win.
Lotto Central Federation League:-
Watsons PN Marist remain at the summit this week after a double by Nicholas Carrick saw his side grab a big 5-1 win over Levin AFC at the Arena Turf. Carrick leads the golden boot race so far this season with seven strikes but Peggy Gordons NP Rangers striker Mark McGrath is close on his heels after notching up a hat-trick on Sunday to sit on six goals for the season. McGrath’s side dispatched North End AFC at Yarrow Stadium 5-1 to collect their third straight win for the season and to sit in third place on the ladder. Building King Havelock North Wanderers hosted Breakers Red Sox over in the Hawke’s Bay with the home side getting a 4-0 win with Bjorn Christensen scoring two late goals to inflate the score line. The final match of the round was between Isles Construction Massey FC and Alexander Electric Napier Marist which ended in a 2-2 draw but was Massey’s first point of the season, Rhys Galyer netting a brace for Massey. Whanganui Athletic hang onto second spot on the ladder after having the Bye and will look forward to getting back out there against Massey in Round 5. Also in Round 5 PN Marist host Havelock North Wanderers which could turn into an early season defining match for the clubs as both have an eye on the title.
Women's Federation Leauge:-
In the Women's Federation League the weekend gone, Moturoa took yet another solid step towards etching their name on the league trophy with an emphatic 5-1 victory at home over the visiting Football Whanganui.A hattrick to Moturoa's Eve Barry put the result cleanly in favour of the home side, taking the wind out of Whanganui's sails after a solid win the week before at Massey, who will now go away and regroup before their trip to Taradale this coming weekend.Taradale themselves will be looking to be on the bounce against Football Whanganui after their 2-0 loss to visiting Massey, with Melissa McKenna and Rebecca Otte claiming the goals for the visiting side, moving them up to second on the table, but still 8 points shy of the rampant Moturoa.
