(PS please send in any match pictures with your team sheet if you take them)

Round #16 27th and 28th July

Horizons Premiership

Takaro and North End played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with both teams scoring in each half. Takaro with a game in hand have done well in their first season up in the Premiership. Hokowhitu couldn’t halt the run of  Levin with Vine, Perigo and Spring all netting for the visitors. Can Levin chase Massey down?? Massey last year’s bridesmaid kicked on with the dynamic duo of Bryenton and Bublitz scoring. 5 points clear with four games remaining. Breakers RSM Reserves were too strong for Athletic Reserves and took the game 3-1 and keep themselves positioned well should Levin falter.

Significant match in the next round: I’m going to say Levin v North End, only because Levin can’t afford to drop points.

360 Logistics Championship

North End development put Levin reserves away with a hard fought 2-1 win. Mitchell Dempster back playing and netting a goal in the victory. The A’s keep themselves in touching distance of 2nd with a comprehensive 6-2 win over PNBHS 2nd’s. Gwylym Hamilton with four, yes four! That’s some effort. Massey were able to overcome the Latinos out at Massey with a 3-1 win. Binney Matthews with a brace. Jokers weren’t joking around and were ruthless and relentless against Banshee’s. 7-0 it ended. Jimmy Porter with a brace there.

Manawatu Division 2

Feilding recorded a solid away win at Dannevirke taking the game 2-0, having found so form they could move themselves off the foot of the table. Rebels stay in the fight and were able to put Massey away 2-0 out at Massey. Levin Sports showed they have plenty of goals in them with a 8-1 demo job on Fury.

Manawatu Division 3

Hokowhitu and North End played out a well spirited and hard fought 2-2 draw. Celts and Greenies couldn’t be separated either and another 2-2 draw here. Welcome back Duncan Muir after knee surgery. That result leaves the league for the taking for Massey Athletic. Massey made the journey to Feilding and were able to win 3-1, the game closer than the score line suggests. Resonant Masters got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Takaro.

Massey Athletic play the Celts in a catch-up match Saturday and game lock the league up with a win.

Manawatu Masters

Jesters were too strong away to Dannevirke and took the game comfortably 5-2. Feilding and Legends played out a 1-1 draw and is reflective of their closeness on the league table. Plunderers had a big 5-0 win and caught their opponents on the league table, they only trail them by goal difference now. Levin Vets out hustled the Hustlers and won 2-0 at home. In the second instalment of the cup of ages Inter were too strong on the day for Shamrocks and won 5-1. Inter go 7 clear now and promotion looks a real probability.

Manawatu Women’s Premiership and  Championship Commence

Below are the league fixtures for the new rounds of the Women’s Premiership and Championship. Ideally next season we will have two divisions.

Tingey Cup and Plate

Me oh my did North End leave it late or what! In the Cup game North End had the Evergreenz, who were out to a 3-1 lead with 20 to go! The tide turned and the slippery slope of momentum switched and North End snuck it 4-3 in the last minutes. Matt Wallace astonished his side had scored so many headers in one game and glad to progress. Mysteries say farewell students and bundle them out of the plate! With the game locked at full time it went to kicks from the spot and the experienced Misfits saw the game out. Even after Massey coach Tom Pearce celebrated after incorrectly counting the kicks. Fined surely by the club? Mysteries will play Misfits in the Plate final as they defeated Avengers 2-0.
