Central Women’s SuperLeague Futsal Team 2019

Central Futsal is excited to announce the Café Cuba Central Futsal Women’s SuperLeague Team & Coaching Staff for 2019. The team will compete in a three day tournament in Wellington at the ASB Stadium from 15-17th February.

 

Trials were held in December with a very strong turn-out of players all vying for a place in the 2019 squad. This year sees a lot of new faces in the team with Aoife Gallagher-Forbes, Milla Green, Charlotte Lancaster, Sam Perko and Sarah Gurnick all on debut, mixed with the experienced players has the makings of a very exciting campaign for Central.

 

Mark Cozens has come back as coach for the second consecutive year after working with the women for the first time in 2018, with Aleesha Heywood in the dual role of Assistant Coach & Manager.

 

A strong contingent of the team, Mikaela Boxall, Aoife Gallagher-Forbes, Aimee Atkins, Casey Ralph, Jenna Barry, Sophie Crewe, Maggie Pedersen, Tyler Wood, Charlotte Lancaster and Mackenzie Barry are all coming off a busy year after being involved across the board in the U14, U16 & U19 Girls Futsal Youth Nationals & Women’s Football National League.

 

As tradition, the ladies started their campaign off with a two day camp at Fielding High School in January. The time together is crucial for the team as the players come from Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu & Taranaki.

 

Exceptional talent can be expected from the 2019 Café Cuba Central Futsal Women’s SuperLeague Squad. Keep an eye on the following players:

 

Charlotte Lancaster - U16 Girls Futsal Youth National Golden Boot 2018!

 

Milla Green, who played in the U14 Girls Youth National team that finished third in 2018 and captained the Central Federation U14 Girls National Age Group team to a historic, unbeaten first place in 2018!

 

Mackenzie Barry, who was involved in the record-breaking third place NZ U17 Girls Team in the FIFA World Cup in Uruguay!

 

Aimee Atkins – U16 Girls Football National Age Group Golden Boot 2018!

‘I think the Central Women’s team has a great combination of experience mixed with young talent, with most of the girls being involved in the Central National Women’s team, or involved in the National Age group tournament, I think this group will be exciting to watch.’
