In this week's game of the round, we had TSH Moturoa AFC hosting YOUM PN Marist Men’s Reserves. TSH Moturoa AFC secured a convincing 4–1 victory over YOUM PN Marist Men's Reserves in a commanding performance. Tyler Webber was the star of the match, opening the scoring in the 15th minute before adding two more goals late in the game at the 72nd and 90+1 minutes, completing a well-earned hat-trick. His clinical finishing gave Moturoa a significant edge throughout the match. Teammate Ethan Webber also contributed with a goal in the 36th minute, extending the lead to 3–1 at halftime. YOUM PN Marist managed to pull a goal back through Kaw Hser in the 32nd minute, keeping themselves in the contest for a time, but ultimately couldn’t keep pace with Moturoa’s attacking threat. In this weeks only game played we had PN Marist Banshees taking on Sportz Bar Whanganui Athletic Cosmos. PN Marist Banshees secured a solid 2–0 victory over Sportz Bar Whanganui Athletic Cosmos in a tightly contested match.
The Banshees took the lead in the 15th minute through Roger Oliveira, setting the tone for the game. Both teams battled hard in midfield and defence, with PN Marist maintaining control and limiting Cosmos’ chances throughout the match.
Late in the game, Darryl Newsome sealed the win with a goal in the 85th minute, putting the result beyond doubt and securing three valuable points for the Banshees.
This win keeps PN Marist Banshees firmly in contention as the season progresses, while Whanganui Athletic Cosmos will be looking to regroup and bounce back in their next fixture.
Manawatu Women’s Championship
In this week's game of the round, we had Wallace Roofing Takaro AFC X-Force taking on GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic Women. Wallace Roofing Takaro AFC X-Force produced a strong all-round performance to claim a 4–1 victory over GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic Women in a match that could prove pivotal in the standings. Takaro started with intent, opening the scoring in the 1st minute through Waimereni Hudson. Mikaela Bradley took control from there, netting a first-half hat-trick with goals in the 8th, 11th, and 43rd minutes to give the hosts a commanding 4–0 lead at halftime. Whanganui Athletic came out with more urgency in the second half and managed to pull one back through Kaitlin Ahonen in the 46th minute. Despite showing better organisation and effort in the latter stages, the damage had already been done in the opening spell. The result sees Takaro AFC X-Force climb into the top four, strengthening their push for a strong finish to the season. For Whanganui Athletic, while the defeat is a setback, they remain in the hunt. With several rounds still to play and points up for grabs, their title hopes are still alive, though they will need consistency and strong results in the coming weeks to stay in contention.
