Introducing our Youth Council Members - Keisha

Keisha Lewis is one of 11 members (aged 15-24) of the Central Football Youth Council which was established in late 2024.  The main purpose of the Youth Council is to enable the Federation to respond to the needs of youth by creating a voice that represents that age demographic.

Located in Taranaki, Keisha embarked on her football journey at the age of 15 while attending High School and by the time she was 16 she had earned a spot on the Inglewood High School First XI. Following several rewarding years on the field, Keisha transitioned into coaching as an adult. This shift allowed her to maintain her passion for the sport, both on and off the pitch, by trading in her boots for a clipboard.

It’s more than a game, is what keeps Keisha involved in the sport; “Football is more than just a game—it’s a community that brings people together. I love the intensity of competition where the smile never leaves your face. And of course, the drive to improve, but what I enjoy most is the team spirit. From celebrating wins to pushing through tough matches, there’s nothing better than being surrounded by teammates who feel like family. Whether on the pitch or off, football creates friendships, unforgettable moments, and a shared passion that keeps me coming back for more!”

When asked what her motivation was to become a Central Football Youth Council Member Keisha said she wants to help make a real impact in the football community; “I joined the Youth Council to be a voice for young people and make a real impact in the football community with and for them. I’m passionate about creating opportunities, bringing fresh ideas to the table and making sure young people are heard. It’s a chance to turn ideas into action, connect with like-minded people, and help shape a better football future for everyone!”

Looking to the future Keisha says her passion lies with coaching and inspiring others;

“Coaching is where my passion lies, and I’m committed to following the pathway to grow and develop in the sport. I love inspiring players, helping them improve, and being part of their football journey. Studying Sport Coaching at the University of Canterbury gave me the foundation to chase this goal, and I’m excited to keep learning, coaching, and making an impact in the game we all love!”

We are very lucky to have Keisha a part of our Youth Council and we can’t wait to follow her journey!
