Havelock were knocked off top spot a week earlier at home and this week were now on the road to Taranaki, looking to get back on track. An early own goal by Havelock got Rangers off to the start they wanted, with the home side doubling the lead in the 25^th minute. Vinnie MacKirdy was again on the scoresheet for Havelock before the break. That wasn’t enough for Havelock with a scoreless second half meaning all three points went to New Plymouth Rangers.
