Whagnanui Valuable Volunteer - Tom Pearce

Congratulations to our first Valuable Volunteer winner for 2024 - Tom Pearce

Tom embodies the sentiment that "not all heroes wear capes." When he's not teaching, he is deeply involved in the Whanganui football community. Tom plays for Whanganui Athletic, he is the assistant coach for their Women’s Federation League Team, and head coach of the club's youth development team. He also runs the club's junior training sessions on Wednesday nights. Tom's dedication and commitment to the sport and community go above and beyond which is demonstrated in the curriculum that Tom has created and shared amongst all the club’s coaches. Tom is the first to step up and fill in when any of the other coaches are unavailable meaning that teams do not miss out.

Tom is an approachable, dependable, and committed coach who genuinely cares about his players and their development which is evident by the sessions that he currently runs with the kids who are learning and developing whilst having fun at the same time.

Tom has also been involved as an FTC coach for Central Football and has helped many of the Whanganui teams prepare for their Representative seasons.

Thanks, Tom, for your contribution to Football in Whanganui.
