The game of the week round 1 was clearly the always hotly contested Palmy derby. Both Watson Integrity PN Marist and Bayleys Palmerston North United will both have their sights set on the title and this was a mouth-watering game to have first up. There was added interest in the game as the sides had only met a week earlier in the local Chinese Cup game that went the way of United. It was a Ben Mori double for Untied either side of an Adam Cowan strike (Marist) that sent 3 points the way of the visitors in a 1-2 score line. The game was played at a high level and should put all teams in the league on notice.
