Get Ready to Kick it on the Unity Pitch |

Ever wanted to have a kick around on the Unity Pitch?  Well now’s your chance!

Central Football and Napier City Council have announced that the Unity Pitch will be stationed at the Soundshell Napier for two days of fun events on Monday 10th July and Tuesday 11th July. The colourful pitch is a vibrant artificial futsal sized turf that represents the patchwork of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ brand colours, reflecting the unique cultures of the co-hosts, and the coming together of 32 participation nations.

The event coincides with the international match between the Ford Football Ferns and Vietnam at Mclean Park on July 10th at 5:30pm. It’s a great opportunity for players of all ages and abilities to get involved, including a meet and greet with the Ford Football Ferns.

Central Football Communications and Marketing Manager Kara Birnie says the two day activation is a great way for the community to enjoy fun events and activities;

“With the Ferns match coinciding with the Unity Pitch at the Soundshell, this provides a unique opportunity for the community to come together and be involved. Whether that’s viewing international football at McLean Park, watching our youngest tamariki enjoying a new sport on the Unity Pitch or participating in an event over the two days. We’re looking forward to seeing smiles on as many faces as possible.”

Over the two days the Unity Pitch will be hosting a range of activities including Blind Football, Teachers vs Students, Girls only games, Central Football vs Napier City Council staff game and free time on both days for the public to enjoy.

Without a doubt the highlight of the event will be on Tuesday, 2.00pm – 3.00pm, when the Ford Football Ferns attend to do a meet and great/signing with fans who will also be able to high-five FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ mascot Tazuni™!

Don’t miss this chance to be part of the excitement!
