The road to ASB Chatham Cup Glory It is pleasing to see both Maycenvale and Napier City Rovers reach the second round of the ASB Chatham Cup, and we look forward to their next games on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June. On the 23rd June Maycenvale are on the road to Lower Hutt and on the 24th we have Napier City Rovers taking on Wairarapa United at 2.00pm at Park Island in Napier, in what will be a repeat of last year’s ASB Chatham Cup final. Our best wishes go to both Maycenvale and Napier City Rovers as they continue along the road for this sought after prize. Geon Taradale unbeaten With the Lotto Pacific Premiership well underway we have two clubs boasting unbeaten records. Geon Taradale with 7 wins and 2 draws currently lead the Premiership over Team Gisborne but Team Gisborne does have a game in hand. The two teams are well clear of the pack in the Pacific Premiership and it would take a brave person to predict that each of them won’t occupy a finals berth. Junior and Primary School Festivals In recent weeks Central Football has run a Junior Festival and Primary School Festival in the Hawke’s Bay, both of which have attracted good numbers. The focus on the Juniors in the terms of Whole of Football is detailed later in this newsletter, but is clearly that good work that is being reflected in the numbers turning out for these Festivals. Officials into Secondary Schools Over the past few weeks Central Football has been working alongside the Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools in supplying referees for their First XI games and in terms of referee development. The issues between the Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools and Central Football have been well documented in the past and it is good to once again have a working relationship between the two. One would hope that this can be expanded on; after all we are all in the same game and do want the best for our players and our competitions.
