COVID - 19 Update |

COVID -19 Update |

As you are aware, we had announced in late March that all community football within the Central Federation would be delayed until Saturday 2 May 2020. Since this was announced the world we currently live has continued to change at a rapid rate and clearly this date is no longer viable. We have experienced nearly two weeks of a national lock down and Covid-19 has had a profound impact on everyone of us that we could never have imagined a month ago.It has been fantastic to see so many of our members staying involved in the game via social media and I know you will all be itching to get out and experience the game proper again as soon as possible. In the mean time we really appreciate you all playing your part in breaking the chain and staying home.

We just wanted to provide you an update as to where things are at with relation to the start of the winter community football season. We have today decided that the winter football season will now start no earlier than Saturday 30 May 2020. Obviously we will need to continue to monitor the ongoing situation to determine, in time, if this date is appropriate and no football will be played until it is absolutely safe to do so. At the time of the initial announcement of the season start date, there was a date of 18 April 2020 added as the time that teams would be able to resume training again. This date is now withdrawn and we will communicate with members again once this date is confirmed.

Over the past weeks our team have done a considerable amount of work modelling what a season would look like dependent on the confirmed start date. We believe that with a start date of 30 May, and even through to a start date of say Saturday 4 July 2020, enables some reasonable competition to be played with an extension into September, and maybe October if need be. We are looking at various ways that we can get junior and senior football played and this has resulted in some innovative suggestions and discussions within the team. The need to think differently to how we have traditionally delivered the game is exciting and has challenged the normal way we have done things, which we think is great. You can be assured that our absolute priority is to ensure that our valued members have some football season in 2020 and we will be continuing to work towards making sure this is the case.

There will be a further communication to members in the coming days around the national representative programs such as the National Youth Futsal, National Women’s League and Men’s Futsal Super League competitions and also to confirm some planning around membership costs for the 2020 season.

Again, please get in touch with any of our team if you have questions or want to discuss anything about the season. Please stay safe and we will be back in communication with you all again soon.
