Lees Appointed Head Coach for National Women’s League

Simon Lees has recently been named the 2017 Central Federation Coach for our National Women’s League.

This isn’t Lee’s first time coaching at this level, having been appointed for the same position back in 2012 and 2013, along with having an extensive and impressive background in coaching since 2010. This year will be no exception– Lees has noticed a considerable amount of depth amongst players throughout the Federation, and is excited about his new role beginning in August.

“I’m looking forward to working with a group of players that I think have an incredible amount of potential. It’ll be great to see these girls working together to really look to push on.” Lees says.

Trials for the squad will be held on the 20th of August 2017. Federation team coaches will be notified about nominating their players for the trials, and a team will be named directly after the trials have taken place.

“We will look to trial twice a week during the week and each weekend after, to really ensure the group gets as much time together as possible,” states Lees.

After the squad is officially named, the season will kick off mid October and carry on through mid December.

Central Federation Football Development Manager, Brett Angell believes that Lee’s appointment will be a great opportunity.

“With his previous experience surrounding the potential, individual players that will be likely to make up this years squad, it will be great to see how much progress is made amongst this group,” he says.

We wish Lees and the 2017 Central Football Women’s National League, all the best for the upcoming season.
