FTC Trophy Up For Grabs

6 September 2017

This weekend kick starts the Federation Talent Centre (FTC) 2017 season for Central Football. Trials were held in June and July, where players were identified through a nomination process involving both clubs and schools. The most talented players were selected and squads were named in August.

The season will begin with the first Game Day taking place this Saturday, the 9th of September. Hawke’s Bay FTC squads will travel to Gisborne and Whanganui squads will make their way to Taranaki. A new game format and structure will be implemented this year for the 12-16 squads, allowing one of our five regions a chance to capture the Central Football Federation Talent Centre Trophy for 2017.

What you need to know about the new game format and Central Football’s FTC Trophy criteria:

  • The five regional Central Football FTC 12-16 Squads will compete against each other in eight fixtures throughout the 2017 competition.
  • The Federation Trophy will be given to the region with the best record overall.
  • Regional age group tables will be updated after every game day to keep you posted.

Football Development manager, Brett Angell explains that having the Federation Trophy and overall new structured game format for the 2017 FTC season, will further aid in the development and expertise of players and their experience. Central Football wishes all of our FTC squads, coaches, and players the very best as they begin their season!
