Last Saturday and Sunday, Gisborne, Taranaki, and Hawke’s Bay FTC squads travelled to Palmerston North to take on Game Day 2 at Ashhurst Domain. It wouldn’t be a proper game day in Manawatu without a bit of wind and rain, and our four FTC squads had a great showing for their second game day of the 2017 season!
Manawatu squads made their solid debut and were particularly strong within the boys’ squads. During the weekend, the U12, U13, and U16 boys won all of their matches over the weekend and appear to have made solid progress having only had one game day showing for the 2017 season.
Hawke’s Bay squads are currently leading in the quest for the Federation Talent Centre Trophy. Their strongest teams being the U14 boys and U16 girls who have been the most consistent with winning their matches so far.
Gisborne U14 boys went unbeaten over the weekend having their best performance so far. The U13 girls won one of their games, however, Wanganui still leads the U13 girls league.
Taranaki squads continue to have strong performances within the boys’ squads. Having won all four matches for U12, U13, and U16 boys, and consequently are leading in standings for their age groups from a regional perspective.
After two game day showings, Hawke’s Bay is currently leading for the 2017 FTC Trophy. That isn’t to say they are far ahead- Taranaki is a mere one point behind and Manawatu will be a region to watch after their strong debut this weekend.
