Central Football Federation is excited to announce the 2017 Buzz Electrics Hawke’s Bay Futsal National League Team. The team will compete in the National League consisting of two parts – the League and Championship competitions. Throughout the season fourteen rounds will take place over three series: Home, Travel and National.
The 2017 Buzz Electrics Hawke’s Bay Futsal National League Team will be made up of twenty-one players, half of which are seasoned veterans. Of the twenty-one-man squad, nine new players will look to add depth to an already notable team. The squad will be led by Mark Cozens, coach/player Tai Barham and managed by Shelley Bowie, all of which carry a wealth of knowledge and experience surrounding the game.
Keep an eye out for the Series’ dates to be released soon!
Coach Mark Cozens is a stalwart in Futsal in the Bay. Mark began his coaching career in 2009 where he coached age group teams for the Youth Nationals. In 2012 Mark stepped up to coach the Hawkes Bay men’s team and has been an integral part of the group’s development ever since. This year’s National League squad features 12 players that Mark has coached throughout the years in representative age groups.
Player / Coach Tai Barham returns to the Hawke’s Bay team as player-coach for 2017. With an impressive coaching and playing resume, Tai will be demanding a high work rate and high intensity from the squad this year. Tai has held various coaching roles within Hawke’s Bay since 2013 with Havelock High School, Napier Boys High School, Hawkes Bay U19 Boys, Central Federation U19 Boys, and Central Futsal Hawkes Bay women. Central Futsal Hawkes Bay will benefit immensely this year from Tai’s experience and from the inclusion of a number of players that Tai has coached and inspired over the past 6 years. Nothing less than a top 4 finish will be good enough for coach Barham in 2017.
Exceptional talent can be expected from the 2017 Buzz Electrics Hawke’s Bay Squad. Goalkeeper, Daniel Robinson returns to the team after an excellent debut year in 2016. With a lot more experience under his belt. At just 17 years old, Daniel is already one of the top keepers in the National League and will be a player to watch in the 2017 competition.
Captain, Ethan Dent returns to lead the team again for the 2017 National League. Dent juggled both Futsal and Football commitments last year playing for both Central Futsal Hawke’s Bay and Hawke’s Bay United team. Ethan brings a lot of experience and maturity to a youthful squad and will look to lead the team to a top 4 finish in 2017.
Target, Bilal Alshamry is one of nine new faces in the Hawkes Bay squad for this year’s campaign. As a youngster back in Iraq, Bilal played 7 aside football for a number of years. Since moving to New Zealand in 2010 Bilal has played indoor football and futsal in our local leagues. Bilal’s eye for goal in the outdoor game and experience on the hard surface will be difficult to combat for opposition defence in his role as target.
Veteran goalkeeper, Aaron Ball will return after his trip overseas in 2016. Level headed and carrying a wealth of experience, Ball has been a core part of Central Futsal for a number of years. Look out for him as he leads the team from the back of the court.
